Jill had to get back to running the Winter Court so I stuck around with Margaret and got a look at Elgon's room. It was spotless, even the bedrooms, which had the doors open wide for Margaret's inspections. I could tell this was a ritual between the two of them as she walked around the room checking on cleanliness. Elgon followed us around with a wry grin on his face as his Mom did a military style inspection, even picking up the corner of a throw rug to check underneath. I pointed out what looked like some dust on top of a picture frame and he rolled his eyes. Margaret's help with my necklace had put me in a better mood when it came to Elgon. I liked her a lot.

I dropped back as she looked over Elgon's bedroom. He had a beautiful hand-crafted quilt on the bed and it was sparsely, but tastefully, furnished.

“Whose side are you on, anyway?” he whispered to me as we stood near the door watching.

“Your Mom's side of course,” I replied smiling, but I wrapped my hand around his biceps giving it a small squeeze and gave him a little hip bump to let him know I was no longer upset with him.

He gave a little start but moved closer to me, our sides touching as I added my other hand to his arm. “What were you guys doing up on the roof?” he asked.

Mom’s have a way of knowing what sons are up to and she turned around with a smile, noting our relative positions. “Girl-talk mostly,” she answered for me. “A lot about you, actually.”

“She also helped us out quite a bit with some questions Jill and I had about my necklace,” I added, fingering the charms as I spoke. “I did get a lot of inside info on Elgon, however.”

Elgon started turning a little red and I could see him eying my necklace. “I don't get it,” he said.

“It's glamoured,” Margaret said. “It’s Fae-made with protective charms. I would be careful about coming into contact with it,” she added, with a wink in my direction.

I hadn't really thought about that part of it too much. It would make necking a little dangerous. I couldn't help myself as a snort escaped my mouth. It was pretty funny.

“Have you made plans for Thanksgiving break yet, Jewel? She asked. We would love to have you join us, at least for a day or two.

I had no idea if Jade and Jane had planned anything. It was not something we had even had a chance to discuss. They were so informal about everything. I doubted they would be doing a whole lot. I would have to let them know what was going on. I was keeping some secrets from them already, but I would trust them on how I felt about Elgon.

“I would love that,” I said. “It sounds like fun.”

I could tell Elgon was pleased as well. His Mom left shortly after that, leaving me alone with Elgon in his room.
